What's LegendFire?

By: Dustin Tigner aka Akaishen

We are dedicated to providing in-depth feedback on what you write. But at the same time, we seek to create a safe haven for writers of all levels of experience. The most accurate definition for LegendFire is: a place of belonging. I’m always thinking about where I belong in life, what group of individuals I fit in with. One aspect of myself, that has changed my life, is creative writing. Creativity is a magical trait, one that enriches the lives of others. It’s an escape of mundane things - color where there is none, and hope to those who need it.

LegendFire is a community more-so than anything else. We welcome diversity of all kinds. We hope to be perceived as a family of sorts where we as individuals can openly express ourselves and grow.

To help keep your creativity burning, LegendFire hosts writing contests, issues challenges, and encourages feedback exchange. We’re here for each other with words of encouragement and stories of personal victories.

Is this your group? Do you fit in? Only you will know that. Is poetry your forte? Delight us with your rhymes, your unique images, and moving turns of phrase. Fiction? We are open to nearly every genre, including Literary, Mystery, Western, Romance, Suspense/Thriller, Young Adult and Children's, Historical, Adventure, Horror, Science Fiction, Fantasy, as well as the strange and wonderful genres that fall somewhere in between. As a new addition, LF now accepts Non-Fiction! If you are a fellow creative mind who wishes to join our humble community, we welcome you with open arms!

A note of appreciation

To all those members that work hard to make LegendFire an awesome community, you are the best! Where some members log on every few days, we have some awesome members who are always on helping each other. I wouldn't feel comfortable naming each individual in fear I mistakenly miss one. You know who you are and you know that your efforts are appreciated!

Our History

LegendFire has quite the history. It was first created as Arcane Artistry on July 29th, 2003. AAF, as it was called back then, thrived for four years before it was taken down in replace to another community we named PPENN. Unfortunately, PPENN, despite the many hours that was put into the project, did not do too well. We were trotting down the wrong path and ended up chasing all our old members away. We didn’t listen to our members and had to face the consequences.

Despite being horribly less active, PPENN lasted a year. Using Arcane Artistry as our model, we have recreated our great community as LegendFire. Instead of ignoring our members this time, we’re now almost entirely member driven. All ideas are thoroughly discussed with members and staff alike.

In 2009, Akaishen, the original owner and builder of the community, decided it was time to move on and put the site up for auction. A handful of members pooled their resources to buy the community and save it from an early demise. Those members were Nessa Arandur, kurakin, adobbs, Gwyn, and Raveneye.

A lot of work has gone into this community to make it fun, fair, and helpful to all. If you have the patience to befriend members and to use the services offered by LegendFire, I am sure you will not regret it!
